Abstract

The macular degeneration related to age is one of the blindness causes in patients older than 60 years. It is characterized for a number of symptoms as the decrease of vision, metamorphopsias, macropsias, micropsias, central scotoma. It is a disease that should be diagnosed on time because can conduct to blindness. It is classified in atrophic or dry and exudative or humid, the humid or exudative is of worst prognosis. With the advance of technology in Ophthalmology has managed to stop with new methods of treatment as the photodynamic therapy and the antiangiogenic: Macugen, Lucentis, Avastin, + steroids). This disease still represents a problem of greater health and produces substantial blindness. For all the previous things was decided to perform the present bibliographical review.
