Abstract

Background: Sexually transmitted infections are priority themes at sexual and reproductive health field in Cuba. Objective: To assess the management of patient carriers of condylomata acuminatum, and contributing that objectives, projects and development of Cuban public health be fulfilled. Method: An observational cross-sectional analytic study in 47 female patients with condylomata acuminatum attended in the specialized treatment department of the Dermatology external consultation at " Manuel Ascunce Domenech" Teaching Hospital of Camagüey city was carried out, from March 1st to December 31st , 2007, which constituted the universe of study. A survey was applied, according to experts' criteria and results were analyzed for automatic means. Results: Around the third part of the sickpersons did not come from specialties implicated in the management of condylomata acuminatum, doctors of another specialties obviated the Integral General Practitioner, and the last ones, did not interconsult the cases with the dermatologist. A complete physical examination was not performed, approximately the two third parts of the sickpersons, neither to their sexual couples. To the less half of patients complementaries were indicated to dismiss another associated sexually transmitted infections, to no one sub-clinical infection, neither cytologic nor alterations of the cervical epithelium, were rejected. Conclusions: Sanitary education was given to the less half of them.
