Abstract

Background: although the Integrated System of quality assessment in clinical laboratories (version 1) applied from the year 2000, achieved the proposed objectives, arose the necessity of including new parameters that influenced on those quality impact indicators capable of better improvement (version 2), to contribute to elevate the culture for quality, the excellence in this specialty and to increase the required knowledge for the elaboration and installation of Quality Management Systems. Objectives: to modify and to amplify the Integrated System (version 1). Method: a documental study that included the results of the application of the Integrated System was conducted which allowed to carry out a diagnosis of the parameters that should be modified or to include for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the created system. Results: elements that make up the system are: organizational aspects, aspects of quality and other controls, which are evaluated according to quantitative scale of 0-100 points. Its use as evaluative instrument from the years 2000 to 2004 and its modification in 2005 has been decisive to improve the main indicators of the province. Conclusions: with the implementation of the said system has been risen the requirements, the interest, the motivation and concern for obtaining better results in the exams´ quality on the part of the representatives of this activity in the participant units.
