Abstract
CHALALA VAZQUEZ, Madeline et al. Evaluación y control de calidad de la tintura homeopática de Artemisia absinthium L. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 2004, vol.9, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1028-4796.
The present paper is aimed at studying the evaluation and quality control of the homeopathic tincture of Artemisia absinthium L. cultivated under Cuba's conditions. It is a widely used species and it has a renowned therapeutic value. The aerial and fresh flowered parts of this plant were used during the research. 13 batches of tincture were obtained according to the French school's method. The following quality indicators were established at a titer of ethanol 65 % v/v: organoleptic characteristics, capillary image, refraction index, relative density, pH, titer of ethanol and percentage of dry residual. Identification tests were made to determine the presence of bicyclic ketones, phenols and turbidity. A profile of the tincture was standardized by thin layer chromatography. Its quality indicators were within the limits established by the pharmacopeias taken as reference in all the batches obtained. A study was conducted to determine the time of useful life of the tincture during a year at room temperature in ambar glass flasks of 30 mL. It was proved that it kept its optimum characteristics under these conditions and that its microbial count was below the permissible levels during the whole experiment. These results show that it is really possible to obtain this tincture in Cuba with a quality similar to that demanded by the official homeopathic pharmacopeias.
