The use of the different plant species in Cuba and in The Canary Islands was comparatively analyzed based on the most important works on medicinal plants from these countries. 179 species grouped into 147 genera of 62 families that are used in traditional medicine in Cuba and The Canary Islands are dealt with. Their properties as well as the affections for which they are used in both regions are stressed.
