Abstract

MEDEROS AVILA, María Esther et al. Behavior of patients with hypertension assisted in emergency services of "José Martí Pérez" Polyclinic. MEDISAN [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.5, pp. 636-642. ISSN 1029-3019.

A descriptive and cross sectional study was carried out to all the patients with hypertension, assisted in the emergency services of "José Martí Pérez" Teaching University Polyclinic from Santiago de Cuba during the 2009, to determine on the base of their health condition, if they would be admitted to the emergency room from the community health center or referred to the hospital. The male sex, the age group 41-50 year-old, the history of the disease and monotherapy prevailed in the case material. None of the affected patients experienced complications and the most frequent stay was from 3 to 4 hours in the emergency room.
