Abstract

A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 86 patients affected by denture stomatitis, with removable dental prosthesis (partial and complete) that attended the Stomatology Service of Las Llanadas in Cumaná municipality, belonging to Sucre State of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, from November 2009 to August 2010, in order to characterize them according to some variates of interest. The series showed that the highest percentage of patients were female and the age group of 35-59 years; also, the use of the removable complete denture in those over 60 years, the clinical grade II of the disease in smokers, continually bearing prosthesis, and clinical grade III of the lesion in those with more than 10 years of using the prosthesis, who received recommendations in this respect, prevailed.
