Abstract

FLEITES DID, Tania Yanet et al. Algorithm for an intersectoral and comprehensive dental care in preschool children. Medicentro Electrónica [online]. 2021, vol.25, n.1, pp. 50-72.  Epub Jan 01, 2021. ISSN 1029-3043.

Introduction:

dental care since early ages has as a fundamental objective the integral development of children, from a biopsychosocial approach. An algorithm provides the opportunity to guide the work of the primary care professional.

Objective:

to develop an algorithm for a comprehensive and intersectoral dental care in preschool children.

Methods:

a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in a population of 326 preschool children from urban primary schools in Sagua la Grande municipality, Villa Clara province, between January 2018 and June 2019. Empirical, statistical and qualitative techniques were used.

Results:

according to the epidemiological diagnosis, 247 sick children were found (75.8%), followed by healthy children at risk (79 for 24.2 %). The comprehensive and intersectoral dental care algorithm was designed according to Cuban Standard 9000-4, from 1999, which was subsequently validated.

Conclusions:

according to the results of the diagnosis, a comprehensive dental care algorithm was designed linking different sectors of society for preschool children care, which was validated by experts as quite adequate.

Keywords : oral medicine; algorithms.
