Abstract

SANCHEZ CRUZ, Yoany  and  AMOROS NUNEZ, Magaly. Urban water management by means of spatial analysis in GIS. RIHA [online]. 2012, vol.33, n.3, pp. 58-71. ISSN 1680-0338.

The use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) has been widely used for urban waters management. One step in the development of this field has been to use GIS information not just for mapping and consulting, but also to analyze trends and make decisions by means of the applications provided by spatial analysis. Spatial analysis in GIS comprises a group of procedures used to carry out the study of the territorial structures and relations based on the knowledge about the position and features of the geographic entities resulting from the variables involved. This paper proposes its implementation for the processes of planning and decision making within a water supply company, which is illustrated by practical cases with real data.

Keywords : spatial analysis; water supply management; Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
