Abstract

ORTEGA VIERA, Lianys et al. Functional characteristics of vitreous membranes used in biogas purification. riha [online]. 2016, vol.37, n.2, pp. 57-67. ISSN 1680-0338.

The removal of hydrogen sulfide (H2S(g)) present in the biogas using vitreous membranes, is a method that has satisfactory results at a laboratory scale. To thisend 10 membranes with different masses of zinc oxide (ZnO(s)) and particle diameters coal (Dpc) are applied. Therefore, the objective of this work is to perform the functional characterization of vitreous membranes used in the purification of biogas. The results indicate that the permeability and effectivediffusivity of H2S(g) in the vitreous membranes varie with respect to its composition and structural features. In addition, by Pareto diagram it can beshown that the mass of ZnO(s) as well asthe Dpc and the operation flow (Qop) significantly influence the removal of H2S(g).

Keywords : biogas; effective diffusivity; vitreous membranes; permeability; hydrogen sulfide.
