Abstract
FEBLES DIAZ, José Miguel and VEGA CARRENO, Marina Beatriz. Assessment of soil erosion contribution to Mampostón reservoir sedimentation. riha [online]. 2016, vol.37, n.3, pp. 18-30. ISSN 1680-0338.
Reservoir sedimentation is a problem that produces loss of storage capacity in reservoirs. It was selected Mampostón reservoir at Mayabeque province, Cuba, to assess soil losses due to water erosion that produces reservoir sedimentation It was applied CORINE methodology to obtain actual soil erosion index map and identify the regions of greater categories where profiles were drawn in order to evaluate with Morgan model, the sedimentation that arrives to the reservoir. The results show the north and south hillsides as the most susceptible to water erosion with yearly soil losses of 388,7 kg/m2 (3887 t/ha) with means 0,9% of reservoir sedimentation per year.
Keywords : reservoir sedimentation; Mampostón reservoir; water erosion; CORINE methodology; Morgan erosion model.
