Abstract

LOBAINA FERNANDEZ, Susel; PARDO GOMEZ, Rafael  and  ALEGRET BRENA, Evio. Labyrinth Weirs. riha [online]. 2016, vol.37, n.3, pp. 31-45. ISSN 1680-0338.

The state of the art about labyrinth spillways is presented in a very tight synthesis. Main experimental results about the subject are introduced and expressed in the form of graphics, tables and equations. Additionally included are two work sheets that have been elaborated by the authors of this paper to facilitate the hydraulic design process of this type of spillways. Finally, the need to continue experimental studies of this type of structure is made apparent, specially regarding two aspects which the authors consider of primary importance: the use of other spillway types different from the free fall ones and the structures located downstream of the labyrinth.

Keywords : labyrinth weirs; upstream and downstream apex; cycle configuration; nappe interference; local submergence.
