Abstract
CAMEJO BARREIRO, Lorenzo Eddy; DUARTE NARANJO, Leonel and GUERRA HERNANDEZ, Gisel. Agronomic design in central pivot machines, performance and water and energy saving. riha [online]. 2017, vol.38, n.2, pp. 3-16. ISSN 1680-0338.
An agronomic design was made for irrigation of potato with the central pivot irrigation machine. Parameters as uniformity coefficient (CU), distribution uniformity (UD), application efficiency (EA), variation coefficient (CV) and water and energy consumption were determined as well as the influence of wind velocity and direction on the quality of irrigation at several production units in Ciego de Avila province. Machines were assesssed for wind velocity values between 2-27 km/h. Average values obtained were CU=75,4 %, UD=59,8 %, EA= 75,3 %, CV=37,8 % and average yield with agronomic design was 28,6 t/ha overcoming the 20,13 t/ha obtained without agronomic design. Savings amounted to 137192,4 m3 of water and 54718,5 kWh of energy while the average yield from 20 machines was 27,09 t/ha in the province.
