Abstract

PEDRO SILVA, Niurka; GOMEZ PAIS, Gloria de las Mercedes  and  TRISTA BARRERA, Ernesto Ramón. Algorithm of carbon inventory in the nourishment of beaches. riha [online]. 2019, vol.40, n.2, pp. 25-38. ISSN 1680-0338.

For the first time methods developed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, techniques of the composed method of accounting accounts and mathematics models of carbon sequestration by vegetation and sands on Cuban beaches were integrated. The objective was to design an algorithm for the inventory of carbon in fuels, planting vegetation and dumping of sand, registered in the economic activity of the investment in the nourishment of beaches in Cuba. The methodology of the algorithm described the quantification of the net emission of carbon dioxide and deposition of calcium carbonate in these projects and the validation of both variables. This research was conceived to guide the decision making. It was recommended to program the algorithm in a computer system and apply it to an investment proposal.

Keywords : climate change; project evaluation; nourishment of beaches; carbon sequestration.
