Abstract

SANCHEZ BARRERA, Odalys et al. Population ageing: some considerations from the field of the Antrhopoly. Rev.Med.Electrón. [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.3, pp. 708-724. ISSN 1684-1824.

The phenomena of ageing is a theme to manage and to discuss by researchers, academics, students and professionals from wide social sectors with incidence, also in the treatment to apply to the challenges it represents. The changes taking place during the ageing process, and the beliefs, myths, prejudices, politics and perceptions referred to the theme, pose the necessity of getting deep in the given valuation and criteria from the anthropological point of view. A logical, historic documental analysis was carried out on the results of a bibliographic review of the national and international literature in SciELO, Pubmed and Cumed database. The most updated literature and some other not too updated but very necessary to dealt with the theme was chosen, arriving to a total of 31 bibliographic references. As a conclusion, the authors gave some considerations: demographic changes force the government to objectively focus on their impacts on the societies by generating great necessities and transformations; more participation of the government in providing formal support to elder people; it is necessary to strengthen family capability to manage the impacts of ageing; to promote healthy ageing and preventive medicine; it is essential to assess ageing from an anthropological point of view to understand with a wide social, economic, sociological, biomedical, cultural and political perspective the attention required by people at older age.

Keywords : ageing; demography; woman; abuse; discrimination; gender.
