Abstract

PENATE DIAZ, Florencia. Last farewell to Mayito Coyula, an illustrious habanero. Arquitectura y Urbanismo [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.3, pp. 114-119. ISSN 1815-5898.

Mario Coyula Cowley is not only one of the most important figures of Cuban architecture and urbanism in the second half of the twentieth century, but a personality of national culture. We can say the above for his work as head of important tasks in Cuba, for his many books and articles, which reflected his thinking about architecture and urbanism as a part of culture and his ideas about the built heritage as linked to a living man and life. The following paper aims to pay tribute to this regal personality of our culture. His written papers and books and archive material that provides accurate data on his live and work has supported the text.

Keywords : Mario Coyula; cuban architecture; architectural and urban heritage.
