Abstract

PERDOMO-GOMEZ, Laura Ailin et al. Assessment vanadium concentrate obtained from spent catalysts, as an alloy charge for tubular electrodes. Min. Geol. [online]. 2022, vol.38, n.4, pp. 363-377.  Epub Dec 31, 2022. ISSN 1993-8012.

The present study analyzes the assessment of vanadium concentrate as an alloy charge for coated tubular electrodes intended for recharging parts. The concentrate was obtained from the chemical processing of flat catalysts from sulfuric acid production, mixed with charcoal. The 3.5 mm diameter electrode was made with a 10 x 1 mm AISI 1010 steel strip and coating with 70% calcite, 10% fluorite and 20% graphite, which guaranteed good technological performance. Weld beads with 0.19% C were obtained; 0.19% of V; 1.94% Cr and 0.1% Mo, with the presence of fine-grained ferrite in the columnar and acicular zone in the center of the bead and 208 and 187 Hv hardnesses respectively.

Keywords : spent catalyst; acid leach; coated tubular electrode; weld.
