Abstract

BONET PEREZ, Camilo et al. Irrigation schedule of pineapple in Ciego de Ávila province. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.4, pp. 16-24. ISSN 2071-0054.

Starting from the available information on the behavior of the water necessities of pineapple in the different development phases and the crop coefficients that have been studied, are determined the parameters for the irrigation scheduling under the edaphoclimatic conditions predominant in Ciego de Ávila province. The calculations are carried out using the methodology proposed by the FAO starting from the Reference Evapotranspiration, which has been calculated by the Institute of Meteorology according to the equation of Penman-Monteith, adjusted for the specific conditions of the meteorological stations in Cuba. The calculations are carried out for the three predominant types of soils in the areas dedicated to pineapple production in Ciego de Ávila province. The results show that the irrigation is not necessary during the months of the rainy period of the year, and during the rest of the year the irrigation frequencies oscillate between 6 and 10 days and the irrigation norms between 7 and 15 mm according to the kind of soil and development stage, being important to manage the irrigation carefully to avoid undesirable excess of humidity for this crop.

Keywords : irrigation norm; irrigation frequency.
