Abstract

FABERO RODRIGUEZ, Wirson et al. MD Agustín Anido Artiles: history, art and medicine in a Santa Clara´s citizen of the XX century. EDUMECENTRO [online]. 2016, vol.8, suppl.2, pp. 7-19. ISSN 2077-2874.

Background: there are famous personalities of the medical profession in Villa Clara province that are meritorious of being studied by their comprehensive knowledge in art, deep understanding of the natural sciences and exceptional conditions for the Medicine practice. Objective: to investigate relevant aspects about the outstanding participation of MD. Agustín Anido Artiles in the development of science and medicine, and his incidence in Villa Clara´s culture. Methods: it was carried out a descriptive investigation within the qualitative approach in Villa Clara University of Sciences, during the year 2015, theoretical methods were used: the analysis-synthesis and the induction-deduction, sustained in the interaction with the historical-logical one; and empiric methods: the documental analysis and interviews to relatives and researchers regarding this personality. Results: the fundamental facets of MD Agustín Anido Artiles are highlighted, particularizing in the aspects that demonstrate his position in the local history, in relation to sciences, medicine and culture in a general way. Conclusions: it is considered that he is an important figure in the city that has been little studied and who was able to consolidate in his personality aptitudes for art, deep understanding for the natural sciences and exceptional conditions for the Medicine practice, with remarkable contributions to the city life in all these facets.
