Abstract

The theoretical foundations on the upgrading of health professionals are analyzed, that must deal with the solution of social problems with participatory and collaborative sense, with full performance and impact that allows the exchange and the socialization of the contents learned and increases the motivation and the interests for intellectual growth and updating. It is contextualized how professional upgrading influences in the improvement of the quality of services, the level of satisfaction and the social recognition of the profession; the General practitioner represents the pillar in the achievements of the population health, it is who, by offering them the necessary tools and advice, can provide comprehensive medical care to the community. The authors set out to reflect on the relevance of professional upgrading, modality linked to strengthen and maintain the competences to guarantee the quality of work performance.
