Abstract

ESPINOSA RAMIREZ, José Ángel  and  DIAZGRANADO BRICUYET, Luis Manuel. ENVIRONMENTAL FORMATION OF STUDENTS. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION AT THE UNIVERSITY. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.3, pp. 13-22. ISSN 2218-3620.

Discussions on environmental issues have been arousing for several decades in various international forums. On one side, Environmental summits have emphasized the need to generate thought and action in favor of sustainable development and on the other, international organizations seek new ways of implementation in the particular practices of each region and country. The educational systems in general and higher education in particular, have insisted on the incorporation of environmental content in the integral formation of students. On this direction, Educational systems in general and higher education in particular, have insisted on the inclusion of environmental content in the comprehensive formation of students. Consequently, various proposals of implementation have given rise in curricular and extracurricular processes. This paper has been preceded by a doctoral research developed within the senior high educational system, in order to search for theoretical and methodological recommendations for environmental education in relation to the upcoming university training. The relationship between science, environment and profession is essential in a process of environmental higher education. Those recommendations constitute the epistemological and praxiological foundations, which might condition the professional training processes, based on the active participation of students, either at the school or the community, where students work and where subsequent work performance is proposed.

Keywords : Professional formation; environmental education; environmental formation at the university.
