Abstract

Caring and protecting environment and sustainable development has become an issue of considerable importance for any institution, It is considered among the aspects which must be met to assess the social responsibility of any organization. The aim of this work is a proposal of a Program of Environmental Management for the Metropolitan University Headquarters,  Machala.  A diagnosis of the current situation was made regarding environmental management and from the insufficiencies detected, a proposal of a Program of Environmental Management was done considering the most relevant ones for the Headquarters according to the ISO Standards 14000. For information gathering diverse tools were used. The process of information was mainly based on analysis-synthesis and descriptive statistical methods. It is concluded that it is necessary to strengthen the environmental management of the Headquarters UMET Machala and proposes a Program of Environmental Management with this purpose.
