Abstract

One of the concerns of teaching in higher education refers to moving from a traditional approach to an educational paradigm centered on student activity. Implementing debate is as a methodology is described as active learning in the context of the International Economics subject, with the aim of encouraging students’ active participation from two majors of the business area, belonging to a Public and State University South Chile. It is discussed about current national and international economic events. . The results of the survey of perception show, that the methodology of debate was perceived positively by the students. From teaching, it is valued as a proper methodology for favorable development of both critical thinking and promoting skills for teamwork, so as helping to raise interest in the subject.
