Abstract

This research was aimed at analyzing strategies students from the pedagogical major use in basic education at the Faculty of Social Sciences, to work more independently, with a view to taking actions which promote the of teaching - learning process improvement, considering the knowledge on this subject the staff of this institution has. To carry out this research, the questionnaire of strategies of independent work was applied, to a sample of 13 students, 6 factors were measured by a scale of 5 points which determine the options of strategies used by the students. In the statistical analysis, it was confirmed that there are no significant differences in the students' options, but there are options in which the frequency of selection in is very low, however in general they are used in independent work to some extent the learning strategies included in the 6 factors of the applied questionnaire. It has been confirmed that the development of independent learning strategies in university students, regardless of the fact that this topic has been studied by different authors and universities for years, still has difficulties on how to develop this ability and how to contextualize it.
