Abstract

The problem of climate change and environmental pollution is am element that concerns all humanity, this is the reason why, every day environmental indicators are analyzed. For this research the following objectives were determined: 1) To estimate the values of energy intensity in Ecuador and 2) To estimate the carbon footprint in Ecuador caused by the energy consumption. Through this study it was determined the energy intensity and carbon footprint caused in Ecuador in 2000, 2011 and 2012. The values were 525.49 for the transport diesel consumption 323.61 and gasoline and naphtha consumption 242.82. The methodology used is the protocol gases, the same that was used based on the consumption of fuels and electricity.
