Abstract

The manufacture of balanced feed in Cienfuegos needs management systems that allow improving its energy performance and increasing its competitiveness. The energy management systems investigated by the Center for Studies of Energy and Environment, of the University of Cienfuegos and the possibility of the Cienfuegos Feed Company to improve its energy management permitted to undertake this research. Obtaining and using the energy performance indicator and the baseline for daily control enabled to decrease from 12.8 kWh/t on average, to values below 10 kWh/t, which represents a reduction in energy consumption of 364,000 kWh/year and 15% of the energy cost item; result that equals 120 t of oil/year and a saving of 6,000 USD / year.
