The present investigation has been carried out with the objective to develop a methodology to evaluate the biomass co / combustion process whose purpose is to increase the efficiency of the RETAL type boilers used in the Cuban sugar mills. This study is based fundamentally on the reduction of the excess of air by means of the proposal of burning in grate of the integral bagasse like fuel base, combined with the burning in rotary burners designed from the technology of the sections of step in rotation of a dry and pulverized biomass. This would allow a greater operational flexibility with a high stability of the combustion process in the furnace, which brings it with an increase in the efficiency of the boiler by reducing the heat losses in the exhaust gases, with an investment cost relatively low. In addition, the technology allows the use of various pulverized biomass as in the case of RACs or in the case of derivatives of the core.
