Nitrites and nitrates cause serious damage to health. They can be found in high contents in drinking water and that is why it is very necessary to accurately determine their presence. The objective of the research is to describe a procedure for the chemical analysis of nitrite and nitrate contamination in drinking water. For its development, methods of the theoretical and practical order were applied, such as working with experts, in addition to statistical methods. As a main result, a guide of good operating practices is achieved for the management of water fit for human consumption.
