Abstract

The investigation arises as a result of the diagnosis of the research project Management of the Quality of Education, developed by teachers and students of the Metropolitan University of Ecuador, where it was highlighted the insufficiencies that teachers present for the inclusion of children with needs special education in pedagogical practice. The theoretical referents that supported the study, come from the sociohistorical - cultural approach of Vygotsky. The methodology used was qualitative, theoretical methods were applied, such as the analysis-synthesis throughout the investigative process, with emphasis on the rationale of the object of study, the induction-deduction in the diagnosis made and the hermeneutic-dialectic in the results analysis; Within the empirical methods, we used: the survey, the interview and the observation for the diagnosis of the current state of the research object. The purpose of the study was to characterize the performance of teachers in Ecuadorian basic education in the inclusion of children with educational needs.
