Abstract

In the present investigation, the feasibility of implementing a photovoltaic system in a family home is evaluated, for the supply of energy and hot water in Francisco through the design of the corresponding electrical system, in a subdivision located on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in the Municipality of San Antonio de Oriente, always in the Department of Francisco Morazán. To define the conventional electrical design, the National Electrical Code of the United States of America was used, and for the photovoltaic design, the methodology developed in the subject of photovoltaic solar energy and solar thermal energy of the Master in Renewable Energy was used. For the feasibility evaluation, the Economic Engineering tools were used through the Net Present Value (NPV), the Internal Rate of Return (IRR), the Recovery Period (PR) and the Capitalized Cost (CC), and It was possible to determine that from the economic point of view the investment in the implementation in the photovoltaic system is not attractive due to the prices of the equipment and materials required, however, it contributes to the reduction of the energy bill and helps to reduce the effects of climate change. The electrical installation was designed considering all safety regulations so that the conduction and use of electrical energy is adequate, the layout of the photovoltaic system was sized to respond to electrical charges for lighting and for the water pumping system for use. normal in homes for domestic purposes.
