Abstract

The meaning of social networks as information and communication tools in the field of education, as well as leadership have been analyzed and debated. In this sense, the objective is: to carry out a bibliometric analysis of the descriptors leadership and social networks published in the Collection of the "Web of Science", in the research area: Education Educational Research, which allowed identifying a number of articles, universities and regions that have the greatest scientific production, the most cited authors and the predominant language. The study was exploratory and descriptive in nature, essentially based on the compilation of scientific production. Descriptive techniques were used. Dispersion was found in the number of citations in the analyzed articles (30), it was not possible to determine the leader in these descriptors. The average number of citations per element was 2.63 with an h-index of 27 for the case of leadership and for social media it was 3.52 with an h-index of 31. Articles in English and Spanish predominate. The results are relevant for future research, since this bibliometric study can be extended to other databases that allow determining other articles related to the analyzed descriptors.
