QUISPE AQUISE, Jhemy et al. Family functioning and social skills in Peruvian secondary school adolescents. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.3, pp. 357-365.  Epub June 30, 2023. ISSN 2218-3620.

Currently, family functioning is considered a relevant factor that affects the biopsychosocial development of family members. Therefore, the objective of this research was to describe the relationship between family functioning and social skills in adolescents in the third, fourth and fifth grade of secondary school belonging to 3 Peruvian public educational institutions. A quantitative approach was used with a non-experimental and descriptive-correlational transectional design. The sample consisted of 211 students who responded to the Family Cohesion and Adaptability Assessment Scale and the Social Skills Assessment List, instruments with adequate levels of validity based on content and reliability. According to the results, the students were characterized by perceiving that family functioning was medium range, they presented a moderate level of their social skills and it was determined that the Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient between both variables was 0.768 with a lower p-value. at the significance level (p<0.05). It was concluded that there is a direct and significant relationship between family functioning and the social skills of adolescents, therefore, it was necessary for educational institutions to promote workshops focused on reorienting the role of the family and strengthening family ties so that students can live together. in a psychologically healthy environment.
