Artificial Intelligence is currently at the center of debates due to the presence of significant gaps in its regulation, supervision and management. This research is conceived as an exploratory and comparative study aimed at evaluating the need to develop an ethical and legal regulatory framework for the use of artificial intelligence in Ecuador. A comparative analysis of AI regulations in various countries is carried out and surveys are used to obtain the perspective of legal professionals in Ecuador. The results obtained indicate a weak global generalization in terms of legal norms regulating AI. The surveys reveal a broad consensus among the professionals surveyed about the importance of establishing specific regulations to guarantee ethical, privacy, security and responsibility aspects in the development and application of Artificial Intelligence in Ecuador.
