Abstract
ROS ALVAREZ, Deinier; CHAVEZ ORTIZ, Ítalo Alfonso and PAUCAR PAUCAR, Cesar Elías. Analysis of the legal framnework that warantees the right to health for pregnant women in Ecuador. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2024, vol.16, n.1, pp. 456-464. Epub Feb 28, 2024. ISSN 2218-3620.
The objective of this research is to analyze the legal framework for the protection of the right to health of pregnant women. It was found that there are specific laws and policies that protect the rights of pregnant women, such as access to quality prenatal and obstetric care, which are endorsed in legal bodies such as the Constitution, codes and laws. Gaps were identified in the implementation and compliance of these regulations. Despite the efforts made, significant challenges persist in terms of equitable access to health care during pregnancy, as well as the persistence of discriminatory practices. Based on these findings, it is recommended to strengthen and improve the implementation of existing laws and policies, as well as promote greater awareness and education regarding the rights of pregnant women.
