ABSTRACT: The present article is a reflective work that proposes a comparison on the protection of children in Mali and Cuba. Although the two countries are governed by the same international legal instruments, consisting of a national body of law that protects infants, the social reality of childhood in both countries is very different. Legal protection instruments are shown to children in both countries. In the same way it reaffirms that the protection of children must first edicts to states and local governments, who have the responsibility to ensure their welfare and full development, not only from a legal framework but from social practice.
