Abstract

VILA BLANCO, Dolores. Scientific Culture and University Education in Cuba: Approaches from the CTS perspective. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2017, vol.5, n.1, pp. 41-59. ISSN 2308-0132.

ABSTRACT: In this essay an analysis of the scientific culture and the university education is realized from the perspective of the studies in Science, Technology and Society (CTS). It also proposes approximations to the understanding of the problems existing in the country, links them with other research results from other areas of knowledge and invites to think about the possible solutions that they are pressing. Meditates on how these cultural and educational processes take place from a field of knowledge (CTS), whose essence is the development of the analytical ability to connect, defragment and transrelate processes, from a global/local contextual scientific understanding as a prerequisite to the processes of multicrisis In which we live, and of which Cuba, in its own diversities and historical complexities, is not exempt.

Keywords : scientific culture; university education; science, technology and society.
