Abstract

ALMEIDA PASTOR, Marcelo  and  ARRECHAVALETA GUARTON, Nora Ángela. Notion of University Commitment for the Transformation of Society. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2019, vol.7, n.1, pp. 229-247.  Epub Sep 01, 2019. ISSN 2308-0132.

The objective of this article was to critically analyze the University-Society relationship from the concept of University Social Responsibility (RSU) and, consequently, to argue a new construct: the University Commitment for the Transformation of Society (CUTS) which constitutes the main result obtained, on the basis of the extensive documentary analysis carried out. The notion of explicit CUTS declines the hegemonic background of the neoliberal model that invades society and higher education on an international scale and turns it into an accomplice of economic, social and environmental unsustainability. The CUTS requires being a social construction and reconstruction: individual, group, and institutional, based on the permanent university-society dialogue.

Keywords : university-society relationship; university social responsibility; university commitments.
