Abstract

ACOSTA ROA, Erika Raquel. A Geo-Historical Reconstruction of an Indian Village Which Became a Commuter Town. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2020, vol.8, n.1  Epub Apr 14, 2020. ISSN 2308-0132.

This paper is aimed at showing the evolution of Paracotos, a town located near two big cities: Los Teques, Miranda State’s capital, and Caracas, Venezuela’s capital, which has characteristics typical of commuter towns. The regional and local history was examined, adopting the geo-historical approach, in order to study Paracotos’ evolution from being an Indian village originally, through a period of farm prosperity, to the period of oil production which heavily influenced its change. The study had the aim of historically reconstructing the town of Paracotos to acquire knowledge of its inhabitants, which will be useful for changing the environment for the better.

Keywords : Geohistory; local history; regional history; Paracotos.
