Abstract

NOVA GONZALEZ, Armando; PREGO REGALADO, Juan Carlos  and  ROBAINA ECHEVARRIA, Lisset. El encadenamiento productivo-valor en Cuba. Antecedentes y actualidad. Proyecto APOCOOP. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2020, vol.8, n.1  Epub Apr 14, 2020. ISSN 2308-0132.

This paper deals with chain as a term characterizing long-term relationships between firms for these to make profit together. Particularly, production-value chain is examined, adopting a systemic approach. A chain can be constructed regionally and go across countries (global value chains) afterward. Often, production chain and value chain are considered separately, but they are closely related, because they both have to do with use value and exchange value of a commodity. In this paper, the importance of production-value chain as a strategic tool for analyzing activities performed by firms and their competitiveness is stressed.

Keywords : value chain; production chain; local development; chain; cooperation.
