Abstract

COUCEIRO RODRIGUEZ, Avelino Víctor. El Carmelo and El Vedado: the 160 years of two patrimonial sister districts. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2020, vol.8, n.1  Epub Apr 14, 2020. ISSN 2308-0132.

This paper assesses the heritage of two neighborhoods in the Cuban capital -El Carmelo and El Vedado-, each with its own distinctions. Both are indissoluble and highly significant for Havana, which is celebrating its 500th anniversary of establishment on the northern coast. These spaces celebrate their160th anniversary in 2019 and 2020 respectively. The study combines several research methods, especially historical-logical and comparative, which highlight the identities of these neighborhoods and the need to promote their relevance to Cuba and the world.
