Abstract
SALADRIGAS MEDINA, Hilda; PORTAL MORENO, Rayza and DE LA NOVAL BAUTISTA, Luis Alain. Communication for Social Change: An Aspiration within the Academic Field of Social Communication in Cuba. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2021, vol.9, n.2 Epub July 01, 2021. ISSN 2308-0132.
Participatory communication processes at the international level have been explained from three main disciplinary areas or fields: community communication, communication for development and communication for social change, where we find points of convergence but also marked differences. The Cuban academy, in little more than 20 years, has followed the same steps because it has not escaped the contextual and theoretical influences that have mediated the field at the international level. To demonstrate this trajectory, this article makes a reflective description through the application of a documentary methodology that allows us to reconstruct this evolution, make its particularities noticeable and make explicit the conditions of possibility of application that the communication paradigm has for social change in the Cuban academy and with it its extension to professional performances and organizational and citizen performances.
