Abstract

PEINADO CAMACHO, José de Jesús. Towards gender equity in postgraduate studies in Mexico. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2023, vol.11, n.2  Epub Aug 01, 2023. ISSN 2308-0132.

The objective of this research was to investigate and examine quantitative data that show changes over time in the training of human resources in science and technology in Mexico, as well as its incidence on gender equity in postgraduate studies. The research was contextualized with gender studies in Latin America and Mexico that emphasize the increase in women with postgraduate degrees. The results of the research showed that the gap between men and women with postgraduate degrees is narrowing. Statistically, good results have been achieved, but slowly. The data points to the right path, but with a lot of work to do. For now, significant progress has been made on this issue, but public policies are needed to bring about deeper cultural changes and to create spaces where women can develop their potential.

Keywords : women; gender gap; postgraduate; gender equality.
