This investigation aims to identify the models applied in the management of municipal solid waste. For this purpose, a search was carried out on the Scopus database and the bibliometric analysis was carried out using the VOS Viewer for the semantic analysis. The identified articles belong to the areas of environmental science, energy, chemical engineering, social sciences and medicine. Key words such as sustainability, recycling, technologies, culture, policies, circular economy, waste life cycle and governance applied to solid waste management, among others, predominate. As a result, the relevance of the synergies between citizens and the private company is highlighted, as they play an important role in addressing this phenomenon to improve the service and thus solve the problems of financing and infrastructure. asi how and work together to seek the best solution alternatives.
