Abstract

ZAMBRANO YEPEZ, Claudia et al. The Environment of the San Juan Site: Manta-Ecuador, and its Relationship with Multidimensional Poverty. An Empirical Approach. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2023, vol.11, n.3  Epub Dec 01, 2023. ISSN 2308-0132.

This study focuses its approach on the analysis of the polluting factors of the environment and the relationship it has with the conditions of multidimensional poverty. This correlation is based on the empirical and directly proportional correspondence of a healthy ecosystem, the availability of productive factors and the full employment of a community or social group that give way to the principle of prevention and precaution. The methodological basis of the research focused on the calculation of the multidimensional poverty index and the perception that the inhabitants have about environmental contaminants through the application of a questionnaire to 619 households in the San Juan de Manta site. The main results showed a correlation between the multidimensional poverty index and some polluting factors, which allowed us to conclude on the impact of the environment to create adequate productive conditions that improve employability indicators.
