Abstract

MORALES CHACON, Odalys de las Mercedes et al. Tasks to develop communicative competence in the A2 English Course. RP [online]. 2021, vol.9, n.3, pp. 447-461.  Epub Feb 22, 2022. ISSN 2308-3042.

Achieving the students’ communicative competence in the English language is the prime goal of the course syllabuses designed as part of the policy oriented to improve the teaching, learning and assessment of the foreign language at the tertiary level--implemented at most Cuban universities in the last few years. Nevertheless, the activities presented in the classroom have not made it possible for the students to reach the expected level of communicative competence in the English language, which has been reflected in the students’ poor performance in the language skills. Thus, this article aims to present communicative tasks to help students develop the communicative competence in the English Course A2. The tasks designed for the English Course A2 constitute an effective means not only for the learning of the foreign language in the classroom but also for learning assessment and evaluation in the English Course A2, impacting in a transverse manner on the development of the language skills, and resulting in the achievement of the students’ communicative competence in the English language.
