Abstract

IGLESIAS PEREZ, Orlando et al. Traumatismo torácico bilateral: A propósito de 1 caso. Rev Cubana Cir [online]. 2002, vol.41, n.3, pp. 201-205. ISSN 1561-2945.

A case of extensive bilateral thoracic trauma with beating thorax was presented. The patient was treated with inmobilization of the thoracic soft parts by using Steinman wires that were passed through in a caudocephalic way, which caused the stabilization of the chest and the rapid improvement of the ventilatory functions. It made possible the opportune withdrawal of the endotracheal intubation and the elimination of the associated septic process. This is an anecdotic and interesting case due to its severity and to the utilization of an external fixation system. It allows to induce the application of this treatment in similar cases
