There are 2 types of axis injuries with the same radiological appearance that are known as Hangman´s fracture. The most frequent is the traumatic spondylolisthesis. These injuries are relatively uncommon and create management problems for orthopedists and neurosurgeons due to their particular biomechanical behavior. A review of the classification and physiopathology of the injury is made and the current diagnostic imaging methods and treatment are described. Emphasis is made on the transpedicular clamping
