Abstract

ROIG FABRE, Esteban; LERMA, Jorge; CORREA BARRIOS, Juan Carlos  and  GONZALEZ VARCARCEL, Ivón. Fractura del ahorcado. Rev Cubana Cir [online]. 2003, vol.42, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-2945.

There are 2 types of axis injuries with the same radiological appearance that are known as Hangman´s fracture. The most frequent is the traumatic spondylolisthesis. These injuries are relatively uncommon and create management problems for orthopedists and neurosurgeons due to their particular biomechanical behavior. A review of the classification and physiopathology of the injury is made and the current diagnostic imaging methods and treatment are described. Emphasis is made on the transpedicular clamping

Keywords : AXIS [injuries]; SPONDYLOLISTHESIS [classification]; SPONDYLOLISTHESIS [physiopathology]; SPONDYLOLISTHESIS [surgery]; CERVICAL VERTEBRAE [injuries]; FRACTURES.
