Abstract

DE LA PARTE PEREZ, Lincoln. ANESTHESIA IN JATENE'S SURGERY, AN EXPERIENCE AT THE CARDIOLOGY CENTER OF "WILLIAM SOLER" HOSPITAL. Rev Cubana Cir [online]. 2004, vol.43, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-2945.

The complete transposition of the great vessels is a common congenital heart disease, which occupies the second place among the heart defects. The anatomical correction of this heart disease is performed in the neonatal period when the postburden and the pressure of the left ventricle are still high. According to the anatomical differences (presence of ventricular septal defect, pulmonary stenosis or abnormalities in the coronary arteries), the correcting surgical procedures of Senning, Mustard, Rastelli or Jatene are used. A substantial development of the surgical team (surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists) and of the postoperative intensive therapy team is necessary for the success of the latter. The first anatomical reconstruction (Jatene) carried out by a team of doctors from our institution with a satisfactory evolution is presented.

Keywords : Pediatric cardiovascular anestehesia; anesthesia in the newborn infant; anesthesia in Jatene's surgery.
