Colorectal cancer is considered the most frequent neoplasia of this century and its morbidity and mortality show an ascending rhythm. A review of the most significant current considerations regarding the histological, prognostic, conventional and videolaparoscopic treatment, gene therapy, postoperative follow-up, prevention and treatment of such tumors is presented
