Abstract

PEREZ RUIZ, Andrés; RODRIGUEZ CALZADILLA, Amado; SANJURJO GOMEZ, Vivian M.  and  PADRON CHACON, Raúl. El papel de óxido nítrico en la hemodinámica, hemostasia e inflamación. Rev Cubana Estomatol [online]. 1997, vol.34, n.2, pp. 84-86. ISSN 1561-297X.

The nitric oxide should be considered as the endogenous nitrovasodilator, an action that is mimicked by the compounds used by the clinics for more than 100 years. In the vascular tissue there is a continual utilization of L-arginine that increases the production of nitric acid and that plays an important role in the regulation of blood pressure. It has been shown that the nitric acid inhibits the platelet aggregation and opposes itself to the adhesion of platelets to collagen and other adhesive proteins. The nitric oxide produced by macrophages acts as a free radical and it is cytotoxic for certain microorganisms and tumoral cells.

Keywords : HEMODYNAMICS [drug effects]; HEMOSTASIS [drug effects]; INFLAMMATION; NITRIC OXIDE [pharmacology].
